Mutanda Eco Community Centre (MECC) is 6km off from Kisoro town and is completely a budget accommodation facility in Southwestern Uganda. It is an eco-friendly facility set on Lake Mutanda shores and comes with camping grounds, camping facilities, and strategically positioned in an area where you can easily connect up to gorilla trekking destinations –Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
MECC is completely owned by local communities and comes with bandas both self-contained and non-self-contained. It also offers accommodation in form of dormitories and has conducive camping grounds for guests interested in camping. This accommodation facility has single, twin and double rooms.
Mutanda Eco Community Centre features 4 (four) cabin bandas with a capacity of up to 10pax. This makes it the preferred place to stay while on a group tour in Southwestern Uganda and this is especially for budget travelers.
If you love camping and plan to visit Southwestern Uganda for gorilla trekking, this is one place you can set up a tent. The camping fees are within the visitors’ pocket range.
There is also a dormitory comprising of 2 bunk beds and takes up to four visitors.
Mutanda Eco-Community Centre is found in Southwestern Uganda and offers easier access to premier gorilla safari destinations –Mgahinga and Bwindi National Parks. It is possible to reach this accommodation from various points –from Kampala/Entebbe city, you can drive for 8-9 hours on Masaka-Mbarara route and or get transferred from Kigali via Chanika or Katuna border to Mutanda Eco-Community Centre. By air, take a scheduled or chartered flight starting from Entebbe International Airport –EBB to Kisoro airstrip.
